失敗的英文最常見的說法是 failure，意思是「失敗、未履行、沒做到」，指未能達到預期的結果或目的，或者是表示某事未能如期完成。

failure 的用法如下：

• 當表示某人的失敗或某物故障或失靈時，其後常接介系詞 of；
• 當表示未能執行某項任務或責任，其後接不定詞 to V。

例如：
