在中文裡，我們很習慣用「萬」作為數字單位，例如一萬、十萬、百萬、千萬、甚至一億，不過在英文的數字系統裡，其實是以「千（thousand）」為一個分界，而不是「萬」，因此很多人在把中文數字翻成英文時，常常會有點卡住，這篇就帶大家一次搞懂常見的大數字英文說法。
首先是「萬」，中文的一萬是 10,000，英文通常會說 ten thousand。
例如：
10,000 = ten thousand
例句：
The stadium can hold ten thousand people.
這個體育場可以容納一萬人。
接著是「十萬」，十萬是 100,000，英文說 one hundred thousand。
例如：
100,000 = one hundred thousand
例句：
The video got one hundred thousand views in one day.
這支影片一天就有十萬觀看次數。
再來是「百萬」，百萬是 1,000,000，英文是 one million。
例如：
1,000,000 = one million
例句：
The company made one million dollars last year.
這家公司去年賺了一百萬美元。
接著是「千萬」，中文的「一千萬」是 10,000,000，英文會說 ten million。
例如：
10,000,000 = ten million
例句：
The movie cost ten million dollars to produce.
這部電影的製作費是一千萬美元。
再往上就是「億」，一億是 100,000,000，英文是 one hundred million。
例如：
100,000,000 = one hundred million
例句：
The song has reached one hundred million views on YouTube.
這首歌在 YouTube 已經達到一億觀看次數。
再往上是10億，10 億在英文裡是 one billion。
在英文的大數字系統中，billion 代表 1,000,000,000（十億）。也就是說：
- 1 億 = one hundred million
- 10 億 = one billion
例句：
The company is worth one billion dollars.
這家公司市值達到十億美元。
The video reached one billion views.
這支影片的觀看次數達到十億次。
如果順著數字往上看，會更清楚：
- 1,000 = one thousand（一千）
- 1,000,000 = one million（百萬）
- 1,000,000,000 = one billion（十億）
- 1,000,000,000,000 = one trillion（一兆）
所以中文常說的：
- 10億 → one billion
- 20億 → two billion
- 50億 → fifty billion

簡單記一個重點就好：
英文的 billion 並不是「億」，而是 「十億」。
